Reprint Licenses
Since we've found that many folks are not aware of what a reprint license is, here is some help.
What Are Reprint Licenses?
A reprint license is a permission to reprint the lyrics and/or assembly music for one year in a non-permanent worship aid (one that is discarded after the service) for your congregation or group gathering.
Some congregations or groups use permanent songbooks or hymnals. The publisher has already done the work of getting permission to reprint the songs that are in those books and includes that in the cost of the books (additional reprint licenses are not necessary).
Other congregations or groups print weekly worship aids instead (and need reprint licenses). It is up to them to get the permissions by purchasing a reprint license for each song they choose to print. Besides offering licenses for individual songs, some large publishers offer many of their songs for one annual fee. Costs vary from publisher to publisher.
Reprint licenses do not include choir member scores— a common misconception. In fact, it is illegal to make multiple copies of music out of a songbook for the use of others. Choir members should each have their own purchased songbook or individual song sheet if they are using the musical score.
What Are License Terms for The Promise?
Our cost of a reprint license for one year is:
- $5 per song (most companies charge $20-$25 per song)
- $15 for Mass of the Promise 6 song set (Alleluia, Holy, Dying..., When We Eat..., Amen, Lamb of God) ($15 savings)
- $30 for all 15 songs in The Promise collection ($30 savings)
So for example, if you wanted to print "Take This Mask" in a non-permanent worship aid (an aid that is discarded after the service) this Sunday, you would purchase a reprint license from us for $5. That would entitle you to print the lyrics or an assembly box in your worship aid this Sunday. And since our license is for one year, you can print it again and again at no more charge for 12 months. Songbooks or individual scores should still be purchased for each choir member.
We've tried to keep things affordable for individuals and communities. If you have any other questions or we can help you in any way please feel free to contact us.

Why Should I Purchase Licenses?
We appreciate your support for this ministry through the purchase of our music. Any duplication or reproduction of this music in any way without permission, besides being illegal, hurts our ability to continue our ministry and provide the Christian community with music and resources you find at this website. It is a costly undertaking to produce these resources independently and if we didn't believe this was something God was calling us to do we wouldn't do it.
We know that there is a cultural belief and even longstanding traditions and rationalizations in some places that say it is okay to make copies of CDs and written music indiscriminately—often without the realization that it is hurting the artists and their families. It is our hope that as the Christian community becomes more aware of the devastating effects of such actions and it will begin to support rather than hurt the creators of these resources.
We are also aware that even though we have tried to make our music affordable, there are some individuals and communities that cannot afford the cost of our materials. If that is true for you or someone you know, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will help you in any way we can.
Thanks again for your understanding, prayers and support. They make all the difference.
- Michael
